Portsmouth: <br /> <br /> In conformity with the provisions of an aot_~pproved ~aroh 29. 1934, commonly. <br />known as the Gompensation A0t, and published as 0hapter 36~ of the Actsof Assembly of 193~. <br /> You are hereby notified that the Oompensation Board has ten~a$ively fixed the <br />Salary of the Treas~trer of ~he Gity of Portsmouth at $5,000.00 for ~he calendar year begin - <br />ning January~ l, 1935, and the expenses of office for that year ~t $2,660.00, the de~ails of <br />which are given below. The salaries are the basic salaries and the portion payable by the <br />State is subject to such outs as have been or may be-imposed by legislative or executive order. <br /> ~o~ your convenience, the following paragraph of the 'Oompensation Act is quoted: <br /> <br /> ,When the salaries for the several counties and cities have been ten- <br /> tatively fixed by the said Board they shall notify the Oounoil, Boar~ <br /> of Supervisors or other governing body of each city and county of the <br /> amounts so fixed. Within thirty days thereafter, but not later, the <br /> said 0ounoil, Board of Supervisors or othe~ governing body may file <br /> with the Oompensation BOard any objection it may have to the salary so <br /> fixed. When s,uoh objection is filed the said board shall fix a time <br /> for a hearing on ~uoh objection, of which time the said 0ouncil, Board <br /> of Supervisors or other governing body as well as the officer affected <br /> shall h~ve at least ten days' notice. McMu~ran Attorney for the Oommonweatth for the 0ity <br />of Portsmouth in the place of Lloyd E. W~rren, deceased,'to fill the u~expired term occasioned <br />by the death of the said Lloyd E. Warren, ~-wit: until the first day of January, 1938, and <br />thereafter until a successor sh~ll be elected and oualified; and thereupon the said Robert ~. <br />MoMurran appeared im Oourt and took and subscribed ~o the several oaths reGuired by l~w. <br /> A ~opy , <br /> Teste: Wm.
