Brooks, Mayor and <br />Honorable Members of the City Council, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br /> The Parent-Teacher Association of the Woodrew Wilson High School in regular <br />monthly session, January 16, 1935, Voted te send a letter to the members of the City Council <br />of the City of Portsmouth urging the appropriation of two thousand dollars ($2,000.) asked <br />for by the School Board, in order to secure teachers necessary to make our school an accredited <br />one. <br /> We make this appeal because it is the purpose of our organization to develop be- <br />tween educators and the general public such umited efforts as will secure for every child the <br />highest advantage. Jordan & Company for auditing the <br />Ferries was received and ordered filed. <br /> <br />books <br /> <br />and accounts of the <br /> <br />The City <br /> <br />Attorney presented the following resolution: <br /> <br />,W~EREAS it appears that the peace and good order <br />of t~e City is affected by the sale of wine and <br />beer during the late hours of the night and the <br />early hours of the morning: <br /> We resolve by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth that the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board <br />be requested to make a rule whereby the sale of <br />wines and beer wilt be prohibitive in this airy <br />between the hours of one o'clock A.M. and five <br />o~clock A.M., <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Hutchins, said resolution was adopted. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Fox that the Ohairman call meeting on the budget, as soon as <br />practicable, was lost. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Oast to go into the election of a City Manager, was adopted. <br />The following names were placed in nomination: <br /> <br />Mr. Stewart nominated Mr. J.M.
