Gentlemen: The Parent-Teacher Association of the Woodrew Wilson High School in regular monthly session, January 16, 1935, Voted te send a letter to the members of the City Council of the City of Portsmouth urging the appropriation of two thousand dollars ($2,000.) asked for by the School Board, in order to secure teachers necessary to make our school an accredited one. We make this appeal because it is the purpose of our organization to develop be- tween educators and the general public such umited efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantage. It is also our privilege as vo~ers and taxpayers to ask your serious con- sideration of this matter. We trust you will give this reGuest your prompt attention. Jordan & Company for auditing the Ferries was received and ordered filed. books and accounts of the The City Attorney presented the following resolution: ,W~EREAS it appears that the peace and good order of t~e City is affected by the sale of wine and beer during the late hours of the night and the early hours of the morning: We resolve by the Council of the City of Ports- mouth that the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board be requested to make a rule whereby the sale of wines and beer wilt be prohibitive in this airy between the hours of one o'clock A.M. and five o~clock A.M., On motion of Mr. Hutchins, said resolution was adopted. Motion of Mr. Fox that the Ohairman call meeting on the budget, as soon as practicable, was lost. Motion of Mr. Oast to go into the election of a City Manager, was adopted. The following names were placed in nomination: Mr. Stewart nominated Mr. J.M. Overton. Mr. Parrish nominated Mr. E.B. Hawks. Mr. Oast nominated Mr, H.B. Anderson. The which were placed in nomination: Chairman presented the names of Chas.. F. Harper, A1 Lewis and J.T. Hanvey, in nomination and the following applications for the office were also placed John W.W. C~?mmings, Jas. E. Harris, P.P. Pilcher, Kenneth Porter, C. Guy Lawrence, Capt. McDonald. On motion of Mr. Hutchins, nominations were closed.
