'~On several different occasions we have presented a petition for free school
books to the City Oouncilo To date nothing has been done. We were told that our petitions
came too late for the la%e for the 1~34 session, so we agreed to wait for the beginning of the
next session, in Septemb'er 1935.
We believe that free school~books are a feasible, practical, and economical
proposition for the taxpayers of this 0ity~
We are communicating with the Oouncil at this time to ask that this propo-
sition be referred immediately to the Supe2intendent of Schools, and that he should make an
early report to the Oent=al Labor Union who will, in tttrn, make their reoort to the 0ity Coun-
