October 22nd~ 19~5. <br /> <br /> Section 1: That all and singular the terms and condi- <br />tions of said form of deed between the City of Portsmouth and <br />the Virginia Electric& Power Company be, and the same, are, <br />hereby approved, sm.d accepted by the City. <br /> Section 2: That the President of the Council and the <br />City Clerk of the City of Portsmouth be, and they are hereby, <br />authorized and directed to execute in the name and on behalf <br />of the City the said form of deed, and to affix the seal of <br />the City thereto, attested by the City Clerk, after it has <br />been executed by the Virginia Electric & Power Company, <br />thereafter record the same in the Clerkts office of the Court <br />of Hustings of the City of Portsmouth at the expense of the <br />City. <br /> Section 3: This resolution shall be in form and effect <br />from and after its passage." <br /> <br />- NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Stewart to go into an election of a member of the Council to suc- <br />ceed the late Hugh_ F. Parrish, was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Stewart nominated Mr. James T. Hanvey, <br />and on motion of Mr. Hutchins, the nomination was closed. Vote being taken, Mr. Hanvey <br />declared elect'ed, and by the following vote: ' <br /> <br /> For Mr. Hanvey Brooks, Fox, Hutchins, Moore, Oast, Stewart <br /> Against Mr. Harlvey None. <br /> Bii! Of J. Shirley Hope, State Game Warden, for $19Y.50, for destroying 79 <br />tagless dogs at $2.50 each, was read. <br /> <br /> On mo~ion of Mr. Hutchins, the Treasurer was authorized to pay same <br />in her hands from collection of Dog taxes. <br /> <br /> The f~!lowing letter was read and referred to the 1936 Budget: <br /> <br />and there being no other nominations, <br /> was <br /> <br />from funds <br /> <br /> "In regards to our letter of Sept. 2!st, we, the Portsmouth Central Labor Un- <br />ion, are still waiting for an answer. <br /> As you understand we are in favor of this free text book system and we hope <br />that you will include this in the 1936 Budget. <br /> Hoping to hear from you soon, <br /> <br />Respectfully yours~ <br /> <br /> E.
