We also think the lot is No. 2~ on the mep of <br /> Pecptes Lot Club. <br /> If you cs.n do anything to relieve the situation, we <br /> will appreciate it.~ <br /> <br /> The matter was referred to the Building Inspector, <br />on Fegruary 28th~ as follows: <br /> 'Referring to your letter of February 26th, File 58, in <br /> which you refer to dilapidated building in the rear of <br /> the Portsmouth Lumber CorporatiOn sad fronting on Cuth- <br /> rie!l S~reet. <br /> Oapt. Shannon and I inspected this building on Feb. <br /> 26th and found it as described by Nm. Naupin. The <br /> neighborsclaim that the owner as shown on the lend <br /> book,Ernest Sessoms, is dead, and that.his widow <br /> lives in Baltimore. We could not secure the address. <br /> Taxes are delinquent to 1927 in the amount of $231.99 <br /> as shown on attached statement from theCity Collector. <br /> The property would no~ bring this amount if sold. <br /> This building is not at present in a condition which <br /> would oermit-us to destroy it and we cs~ only reoom <br /> mend t~at it be sold for taxes.~ <br /> <br />upo~ <br /> <br /> I recommend that the City Attorney be instructed to sell <br />the said property-for taxes.~ <br /> No,ion of Nr. Noore to concur in the Nanager~s recommendatiOn was adopted. <br /> The Nanager stated that he had a letter fro~rs. Willisms, asking an appropri~a- <br />tion of $2,000.00' to Family Service, and stated he was investigating the relief situation of <br />the City and recommended that the Council appropriate $995.00 for immediate use of the F~mtly <br />Service to be t~ken from rheA. B.C. ~nd, if and when received. <br /> of Nr. Fox to appropriate $995.00 for said purpose was adopted, and by <br /> <br /> _No.tion <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Brooks~ Fox, Hanvey, Noore, Stewart <br />Naysf None. <br /> <br /> - UNFINISHED BUSINESS - <br /> <br />RepOrt of City Collector for month o~ February was received and ordered filed. <br /> ~ NEW BUSINESS ~ <br /> <br /> Communication was received from the Central Labor Union, asking a refund of <br />$15.00 for use of the City Auditorium, paid Jsnuary 19th, 1936, said me,ting being education- <br />al and no a~mission was charged. <br /> <br />Notion of Er. Brooks to make said refund of $15.00 was adopted. <br /> <br /> Compensation reports of the Treasurer, Commonwealth Attorney and Commissioner <br />of Revenue were received and, o~ motion of ~ir. Brooks, approved. <br /> <br /> Notion of Nr. Fox to make regular meeting of the Council, Earoh 24th, an open <br />meeting, at which the public be invited, tO discuss the license tax ordinance, was adopted. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />~Dproved - <br /> <br />President. <br /> <br /> <br />
