at one otolock P'.M., and the following Pesolutton was adopted: <br /> <br />mously <br /> <br /> · On motion made by Mr. Pearson, seconded by Mr. Smith, and unani <br />carried, the following resolution was adopted: <br /> <br /> ,WHEREASi the Seaboard Air Line Railway Officials have sig- <br /> nified their intention of removing the shops of this Railway from the City <br /> of Portsmouth; and <br /> WHEREAS, many of the employees of the Seaboard Air Line <br /> Railway shops are now, and have been, for years, residents of Norfolk ~oun- <br /> ty; that many of said employees ova% homes in the Coun%y amd if said Mailway <br /> shops are removed from this-locality, it would prove a hardship on these <br /> residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County now de- <br /> sire to go on record opposing the said transfer; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED. That the Clerk of ~his <br /> Board is hereby directed to communicate with Mr. E. C. Bagwell, General Man- <br /> ager of the Seaboard Air Line Railway Company, offering the support and <br /> operation of the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County, and earnestly re - <br /> questing ~hat the shops of said Railway Company remain, in the City of ports- <br /> mouth; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be <br /> forwarded to the City Council of the City of Portsmouth, and to the Ports <br /> mouth Chamber of Commerce.m <br /> <br />A COPY, <br /> <br />Teste: V.C. The present rate of <br />$51. for the first alley, and $10. for e~ery additional alley I have found to be high for the <br />volume of bowling business done in Portsmouth. <br /> Appreciating any relief you may be able to give me in this respect, I am, <br /> <br />Yours very truly, <br /> <br />E.L. Hines, <br />City Bowling Academy, <br />518 Middle St." <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> "We, the undersigned sign painters or si~ contractors cf the City of Ports - <br />mouth do hereby ask of your'honorable body for the following amendment to the present tax or- <br />dinance for sign contractors~ <br /> Since you have alrea~ly agreed'to c~ the sign contractors' license from $26.00 <br />to $16.00 we also ask thaZ you put into effect an a~ditional $10.00 fee en ~he sign contractor <br />for each sign~ainter he hires (not including helpers). The said hired sign pain, er must carry <br />a card or license duplicate showing the sign contractor he works for.
