"On May 5th, 1936, a stray dog got into my chicken house and killed 13 out of a <br />flock of 81 chickens. <br /> The chickens would average in weight about ~ lbs., which at an estimated price <br />of 25 ctsJ per lb. would total $14.62. you. will find attached ~ bill.to cover; I will thank <br />you to have ~he Treasurer of the City reimburse me for same. <br /> <br />Yours very truly <br /> <br />John Ga!bra~th <br />kk3 Nrc Vernon Ave.~ <br /> <br /> The following letter was read and on motion referred to the-City Manager and <br />City Attorney: <br /> <br /> ~Today, when I called at the City Co~lector~s~office ~o secure l~cense on my <br />automobile, I was told that I would have to paY 193~ and 193~ license on a truc~ before they <br />could issue license for the car. The car is in my husband's name - H.M. Southall. <br /> Neither my husband nor I own a truck, at this time, ~d have not owned one <br />since 1933, but the City Collector's office informed me that the Commissioner of Revenuers <br />office still had it assessed against us. <br /> I Would like to D~ve gotten license for the car today, as I am a nurse, and <br />need it in my work, and do not have much opportunity to get ~o the office for the license, <br />but 'me can not pay license on something we do not own, and have not owned for three years. We <br />are hardly able to pay license on the. car we do own. <br /> ~ill you please take whatever action is necessa~- Zo have me relieved of the <br />license on this truck, record of which can no~ be found eithe~ in the City-Treasurer's or <br />City Collector's office? <br /> <br />Yours ~ruly~ <br /> <br />(Si~ned) <br /> <br />Helen Southall, R.N. <br /> For H.M.
