<br />On the morning of the 3Oth, the following letter was recei~ved:

<br /> 'This confirms our t~elegram of October 28th, advising
<br />~ou that an allotment for a grant only, in the amount of
<br /> 52,200. has been made for this project.
<br /> You are cautioned against making any commitments or
<br />incurring any expenses until the Government has .made an
<br />offer to aid in financing the construction of the project
<br />and such offer has been accepted.
<br /> In the meantime, it would be well to go ahead with
<br />the preparation of final plans and specifications prepara-
<br />tory to taking bids for the constr~ction of the project so
<br />that the work can be advertised as soon as the offer is
<br />made and accepted. Further detailed information as to our
<br />requirements will be forwarded you at an early date.

<br /> This has reference to the P.W.A. Negro School. Project, which is now
<br />in the hands of the ~chool Board."

<br />On motion of Mr. Hutchins, same was ordered filed.

<br /> 2nd - ~The building owned by the City, located on the northeast corner of
<br />Elm Avenue and Randolph St., and occupied by the D.P. Store, was badly wrecked, on the night
<br />of October 25th, by an automobile owned by C. W. Childress and bearing State License No.
<br />13~03~.
<br /> The cost of repairs to the building amounts to
<br />The facts have been placed with the City Attorney, with the request
<br />that he take such legal action as he may deem necessary, in an effort to recover the $~O$.~0.

<br />These drains will consist of the following work:
<br />A k ft. x 5 ft. concrete box culvert from High St. to
<br />Cou~uty St., through the marsh west of Second Avenue.
<br />This is a continuation of the culvert built through the
<br />High School property.
<br />A storm drain which will connect to the High School cul-
<br />vert, on a line with London St., thence west to Fourth
<br />Avenue, south to Queen $~., west to Fifth Ave., south to
<br />High St., west ~o Sixth Ave., south to King St., west to
<br />Seventh Ave. south to Cassell Ave., and west to connect
<br />to presen~ ~ drain at Air Line Turnpike and Ninth Ave.
<br />Also a branch line from Fifth and Queen, west on Queen to
<br />west of Sixth Ave. This drain will oonsis~ of ~he follow-
