November The following letter was read, and on motion, referred to the City Attorney: · On the books of the Revenue Office, appears a tax bill of $3~98 far house - hold furniture assessed for $150. in1934, against Mrs. Esther $oroko, 607' Chestnut Street. I want to inform you that this party did not live in Portsmouth at that.time and did net have any furniture whatsoever, therefore, please advise me how this error occurred, for I am anx- ious to have this matter cleared. I am trusting to hear from you soon. Sincerely yours, H. Cooper.~ The following letter was read and ordered filed: ~I wish to thank you, on behalf of Portsmouth Post #37, for your co-operation in connection with our recent celebration of Armistice Day in Portsmouth. Jordan & Company, for auditing the ferry books and accounts, was received and ordered filed. On motion of Mr. Hutehins, the regular meeting of the. Council, on December 8th, will be open to the public, for consideration of .the 193~ budget. A delegation from the School Board requested a meeting with the Counoil,.in am executiv~ session. Mo~ion of Mr. Hutehins to concur, was adopted. The Chair declared a retees until 9i00 P.M., at which hour the Council convened into an executive session, With a committee from the school board. Mr. Witlett of the School Board stated that the Board had selected~a site for the colored high school (subject to the approval cf the Council) on Chestnut, South and Bart Sts., running west to 90 feet east of Pine St., and that the cost would be $11,500.00,or $2,500~00 more than the estimated cost. Motion of Mr. Hutchins to ~Dprove the site, a~d to place an appropriation of $2,500.00 en its first reading, was adopted. On motion adJourned. Approved Clerk.
