Wilson <br /> <br /> A quorum not appearing, the meeting stood ad~ourned. <br /> <br /> Clerk <br /> <br />Approved <br /> <br />December 8th, 1936. <br /> <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on December 8th, 1936, at 8:00 <br />P.M., there were present: <br /> <br />Leslie T. Fox, George L. Grimes, <br />Frank D. Lawrence, C. E. Warren, <br />Wilson, the 0i~y Manager. <br /> <br />James N. Howard, W. R. Hutchins, <br />H. Earl Welseman, Pearle J. <br /> <br />1st, <br /> <br /> Vice President, H. Earl Weiseman, in the Chair. <br /> <br /> Minutes of regular meeting on November 2~th, and special meeting on December <br />were read and ~oproved. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Fox that the $9,000.00 approprla$ion for new negro high school <br />be laid on table until next meeting, was adopted. <br /> <br />The following communications from the City ~anager were read: <br /> <br /> 1st - sit is with a sense of deep sorrow that I advise you of the death of <br />Police Officer E. R. Story, which occurred on the 30th day of November. <br /> Mr. Story was appointed a substitute officer on February llth, 1930, <br />and as a regular on April llth, 193~. <br /> He was injured in the discharge of his duty, on March 5th, 1935, and <br />at the time of the accident, had been on the regular fobceeleven months. <br /> Mr. Story, s leg was a~putated by Dr. Collins, and the wound never com- <br />pletely healed; from the date of the accidefit until the date' of his death, he had had the <br />constant attention and services of Doctors Roper and Collins. <br /> His hospital and medical expenses were assumed by the City, and he was <br />carried at full pay ~u~til his death.# <br /> <br />On motion, the letter was filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Hutohlns, the following committee was appointed to bring in <br />resolutions on the death of'Police Officer E. R'. Story: W. <br />Wilson. <br /> <br /> 2nd - "The City owns that property, in. Grawford Street, designated by numbers <br />619, 621, 623 and 625, and known as Bogart's Row. <br /> This property was taken over by the City for taxes, and is in bad con- <br />dition, unsightly and unprofitable. <br /> I recommend that this property be advertised for sale, and that the <br />price be subject to-the Council's approval." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Fox to concur in the Manager's recommendation, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 3rd - ~I received a communicat~ion from Mr. W~~ ~ Gray, 2019 Glasgow St., stat- <br />ing that on October 30th, 1936, a false fire alarm was turned in, from the corner of Glasgow <br />St~ and Mt. Vernon Ave., at 8:00 P.M., by Bill Lawson, who was arrested upon charges 'prefer- <br />~red by W. G~Gray. That as a reSult,'the said Bill Lawson was tried, on November Gth, at 3:00 <br /> p.M,, in the Juvenile Court~ and was Placed on probation~for twelve months. <br /> For this service, Mr. Gray is claiming a reward of $50.00. Both the <br /> Ohief of Police and Chief of the Fire Department verify th® facts as given by Mr. ~ray... <br /> <br /> <br />
