At a regular meeting of the City Oouncil, held April 27th, 1937, at 8:00 <br />there were present: <br /> <br />John P. Leigh, Leslie T, <br />Frank D. Hutehins, <br />Warren, H, Earl Weiseman, Pearle J.Wilson, City <br /> <br />Minutes~of regular meeting held April 13th, were read andapproved. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Warren, the rules were suspended to hear Mr. Jacobsen, of the <br />Lions 01ub, who asked the privilege to withdraw the reouest of the Lions Club, made at last <br />meeting of the Council, for loan of some playground equipment for use in Westhaven. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Warren, he was allowed to withdraw his request. <br /> <br /> The following communications from the Ci~y Msnager were <br /> <br /> 1st - ~Mr. Jerome Wallace is physically unable to work; <br />There is no place where we can use him; certainly not on the streets, where he <br />be killed at any time. <br /> I recommend that he be retired.at $30.00 per month.'' <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Howard to concur in the Manager's recommendation, <br />gin April 1st, was adopted. <br /> <br />read: <br /> <br /> besides being deaf. <br /> is liable to <br /> <br />pension to be- <br /> <br />2nd - The City Manager presented the following letter: <br /> <br /> "Application was made by Tankar Company for the location of fourteen <br />1000 gallon underground tanks on the Seaboard property on the south side of High Street, at <br />Pearl Street, which application was accepted and a permit was granted for the same. <br /> When the Tanker Company began excavating for the purpose of locating <br />their tanks, they found that the water level was so high a~ this particular point tha~ it was <br />impractical. The Tankar Company is therefore making application to be allowed to establish a <br />15,000 gallon tank above the ground, which will be installed in accordance with plat showing <br />location and nature of construction of tank filed herewith~ and which will be further in ac <br />cordance with the National Board of Fire Underwriters" requlremente: <br /> We are also submitting with our application, a letter f~om.the Virginia <br />Insurance Rating Bureau, signed by Mr. W.F. Dance, Jr., Engineer, which letter states that the <br />tank so installed would be in accordance with the National Board of Fire Underwrite~~ require- <br />merits and properly diked.
