At a regular meeting of the City Oouncil, held April 27th, 1937, at 8:00 there were present: John P. Leigh, Leslie T, Frank D. Lawrence, C.E. gCr~ Fox, George L. Grimes, James N. Howard, W,R. Hutehins, Warren, H, Earl Weiseman, Pearle J.Wilson, City Minutes~of regular meeting held April 13th, were read andapproved. On motion of Mr. Warren, the rules were suspended to hear Mr. Jacobsen, of the Lions 01ub, who asked the privilege to withdraw the reouest of the Lions Club, made at last meeting of the Council, for loan of some playground equipment for use in Westhaven. On motion of Mr. Warren, he was allowed to withdraw his request. The following communications from the Ci~y Msnager were 1st - ~Mr. Jerome Wallace is physically unable to work; There is no place where we can use him; certainly not on the streets, where he be killed at any time. I recommend that he be retired.at $30.00 per month.'' Motion of Mr. Howard to concur in the Manager's recommendation, gin April 1st, was adopted. read: besides being deaf. is liable to pension to be- 2nd - The City Manager presented the following letter: "Application was made by Tankar Company for the location of fourteen 1000 gallon underground tanks on the Seaboard property on the south side of High Street, at Pearl Street, which application was accepted and a permit was granted for the same. When the Tanker Company began excavating for the purpose of locating their tanks, they found that the water level was so high a~ this particular point tha~ it was impractical. The Tankar Company is therefore making application to be allowed to establish a 15,000 gallon tank above the ground, which will be installed in accordance with plat showing location and nature of construction of tank filed herewith~ and which will be further in ac cordance with the National Board of Fire Underwriters" requlremente: We are also submitting with our application, a letter f~om.the Virginia Insurance Rating Bureau, signed by Mr. W.F. Dance, Jr., Engineer, which letter states that the tank so installed would be in accordance with the National Board of Fire Underwrite~~ require- merits and properly diked. The specifications for the installation of the same are in accord- ance with the regulations and specifications set ou~ in City Ordinance and constitutes no vio- lation thereof.
