<br /> We, therefore, respectfully submit arid request that this o~dinance be chang-
<br /> ed, andthat a tax which is equitable for every machine so operated be passed so that no
<br /> one pe~son could have a monopoly of a number of machines~ We ask that this be done at once
<br /> so that we may pay the licenses for the coming license year on equitable bases for all per=

<br />Chairman of our Legislative Committee,' I am inclosing herein copy of its preliminary report
<br />which has been mailed to the mayors and councilmen of all our member cities and towns. Un
<br />der resolutions passed at the last meeting of the League', it was requested that the prelim-
<br />inary report be submitted and that answers be obtained to the various questions asked there-
<br />in, in order to be helpful to the Committee in deciding on its final legislative program to
<br />be submitted to the League Convention at Virginia Beach on September 20th and 21st. I trust
<br />you will bring thi~ matter to the attention of the Council at its very next meeting and ad-
<br />vise us in accordance with the request as set forth in the bulletin as to the answers to the
<br />questions asked. The Committee desires that answers to these cuestions be returned by April
<br />15th so that it can reassemble, canvass the an~swers,and make i~s final report.
