<br />The following communications from the 0ity Manager were read:

<br /> 1st ~ #Mtn, G.T. Smith, whom we.engaged to teach first aid work to the Police,
<br /> reports tha~ he has finished the course and that all of the policemen passed with geed grades
<br /> with the exception of one, who did not take it.
<br /> I understand from t~e Chief of Police and others, that he has done a
<br /> good Job, and tha~ the knowledge gained by thepolicemen will be very valuable to them
<br /> · he Oily, in the future. The c~St is:

<br /> 2nd ~ "I have a letter from the ,School Beard reques$ing that sidewalk be laid
<br />on the west side of Chestnut Street, ~75 feet, in front of the two negro high school buildings.
<br />This sidewalk should be six fee~~ wide.
<br /> ~e can do ~he work with W.P.A~ labor; the material will cost approxi -
<br />~a~ely $350.00. I recommend that an appr~priaticn of this amount be made.
