Insgead of the City paying <br />the taxes, I suggest that the following resolution Be passed and t~e City Auditor make a no - <br />ration to this effect upon ~e tax ho.Qks in the~lerk's office. This appears to me to be all <br />that is necessary to clear the property of taxes, but should Mt. Early have trouble in the fu - <br />~ure, the City will have to draw a cheek ~ud pay the taxes and await a return from the Clerk <br />of the Court. <br /> The City tax~s.~should be relieved as a charge in the Office of the OIty <br />Collector." <br /> <br />Resolution - <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, in ~rder to collect the delinquent taxes which <br />were due thereon, the City of Portsmouth acquired title <br />to certain real estate on th~ east side of Crawford Street, <br />between King .and County Streets, which it has since sold <br />to E.S. Earl~; and <br />WHEREAS, there is due on said land state taxes charged in <br />~he name of L. ~ootz,_for the following years and principal <br />amounts, namely. 192i '$70.1~, ~923 ? $60.89, 192~- $60.,64, <br />1925 - $60.64, and 1926 i $31.3~; ~nd <br />WHEREAS, by an-act of tne~eneral Assembly of Virginia, <br />approved Feb~uary 26th, 193~ all delinquent State taxes <br />upon lands~wi%Hin the Oity were segregated to the City of <br />Portsmouth, ahd the City ha~ing sold the above mentioned <br />property to EJ$.Early free of liens the said taxes should <br />be relieved.- <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resO~ed by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth' that all the State taxes shown upon the de - <br /> <br /> <br />
