Leigh, Leslie T. Fox, Geo. L. Grimes, James N.Howard, W. R. Hut- <br /> chin~, Fr~a~k~n~Lawrence, C. E. Warren, H. Earl Weiseman, Pearle J. Wilson, <br /> YIi~y Manager. <br /> Minutes of meeting held April 26th were read and approved. <br /> <br /> The following resolution was read: <br /> <br /> "~ne Oouncil of the City of Portsmouth records its sincere sympathy to <br />its co-worker, Pearle J. Wilson, in the ~death of his mother, Nfs. tyrena C. <br />Wilson. <br /> Mrs. Wilson was a devout and active member of her church sad her <br />Christian spirit was felt throughout the entire community and was an inspira- <br />tion to all who knew her. <br /> The passing of Nfs. Syrena ~. Wilson has removed from our midst a <br />~oman endeared by all with whom she came in contact and our sympathy goes out <br />to the members of her family~ <br /> Therefore, Be it Resolved, That ~these resolutions be spread upon the <br />~ecords of the ~0ouncil of the .City of Portsmouth and a ~opy sent to the mom - <br />hers of her family as an expression of our heartfelt s~n~pathy in their be - <br />neavement. Porter,~ who was on the retired list, has passed away." <br /> <br /> On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br /> 2nd - "There was referred to me, at the last meeting, request for tax re- <br />duction in property of Mrs. Georgeanna Webb, corner Washingt~on and Oolumbia <br /> Mr. Barclay, City Attorney, and I have viewed the premises together <br />and I am convinced ~hat his recommendation, which is .hereto attached~ is fair, both to the <br />City and the owner." <br /> On motion of Mr. Fox, the Attorney~'s recommendation was eoncu_~Ted in. <br /> <br /> 3wd - "At ten o'clock, today, we opened bids on-the proposed electric plant <br />on Godwin tt~We had five bids from respqnsible firms .and as soon aa these bids have been tabu- <br />lated and eo.~ordinated, the contract will be let, s~d the pumping station will be transformed <br />into ~n electric plant. <br /> <br /> <br />
