<br />of installation, about $20.00, making a total cost of $620.00.
<br /> I ~ecommend, at this time, an appropriation of that amount."

<br /> "We thank the Honorable Council of ~he 0ity of Portsmouth for the permission
<br />to use the City Auditorium for our annual school show.
<br /> As we paid the stated ~mount of fifteen(S15.) dollars for the school show on
<br />last Sunday, and also five dollars for the rentsl for one rehearsal, we respectfully appeal
<br />to the generosity of the Council to refund to Our Lady of Victory School the said sum of
<br />twenty dollars (%20o) as the proceeds of the show is used for educational purposes of the
<br />colored race of the City of portsmouth.
<br /> Hoping that you will grant us this request, we are,

<br /> "I recently conferred with the United States Housing Authority Executives,
<br />looking to the earmarking of Federal low cost housing and slum oles~e~ce fun~s in the event
<br />your honorable body should elect to establish a local Housing Authority to avail of Federal
<br />money for such purposes.
<br /> I then confirmed my request for earmarkings with a letter addressed to Hon-
<br />orable Nathan Straus, Administrator of the UoS. Housing Authority: copy of which I here en-
<br />close. ~nis letter was immediately acknowledged by Administrator Straus and I am now in re-
