seventy .years of age and does no work. She lives with my daughter and Nfs. Leckliter and my-
self. She requests that this matter be discontinued upon the Treasurer's book~, so it will
not continue to mount up, for something she does not have.
I confess she should h~ve notified the City no doubt that she was out of bus -
iness ~aud owned nothing but. her clothes, but she did not think about it, I am sure, a~d had
the City called upon her to ascertain the value of taxable property, ~she would have then in
formed them as to the facts in the case. She lost eve~hing in the fire and over $700. dol-
lars Lu bills that she could not collect after the fire.
Therefore I ask, knowing the facts, that you kindly see to it that this matter
be attended to, so the tax collector's books may be corrected, as per the facts as they have
been since 1931.
. Thanking you for your kindness in this matter, I am,

Yours truly,
The following letter from the Commissioner of Revenue was read:

"I find that Mr. W. W. ~errill, 427 London St., was assessed for personal pro-
perky for the year 1935, $150.00, tax $3.98 plus interest and penalty. This assessment was in
error and should have been charged to Er. Gland Brownley who owned the home, completely fur -
nished.
Mr. Te~ill is anxious to pay all taxes assessed against him; however, this
can not be done until the charge of $~.4~ for the year 1935 is relieved. Will you kindly re -
lieve this assessment?
Yours very truly, _

Commissioner of the Revenue."

The following petition was read:

"The 'ondersig~ed, shoe repairers ~s£ng electric~ finishing machines, respect-
fully ask that your honorable body reduce their license tax from $16.00 to a smaller amount.
Several years ago,. all sho~ repairers were payLug $26.00 license; but the
Council appreciating the difference between repairers who only u~ed electric finishers and
those who used electric stitchers alsO, reduced our taxes to $16.00, while those using the
stitchers remained at $~6.00. In this year's tax bill those using the s~itbhers have been re-
duced to $16.00, while those of u~ who only use the finishers have been ~ranted no reduction.
Feeling that the Council intended to favor all shoe repairers, we r~speet-
fully ask that our license be reduced.
Respectfully,
