<br />,WHEREAS, the Council of the City of portsmouth, by a
<br />resolution passed on the 13th day of September, 1938,
<br />authorized the City Manager to execute and file s~
<br />~oplication on behalf of the City of-Portsmouth, to
<br />the United States of America, for a loan and grant to
<br />aid in financing the installation of ~ 30" east i~on
<br />water main for a supply of water from Lake Kilby,
<br />Suffolk, VaL, to Portsmouth, Va., and,
<br />~H~REAS, i~ is deemed desirable to amend the appli-
<br />cation to request a grant only, end that the City of
<br />Portsmouth will supply the estimated sum of $122~000.O0
