<br />The following letter was read, and referred to the City Attorney:

<br /> "There is assessed on the Land Book for the City of Portsmouth, in the name
<br />of Emily Mo Roger~, now deceased, a piece of property located at 301 Green St., showing the
<br />land assessed at $2,000.00 and the building at $1,8OO.00. This property is commonly ~uo~n
<br />as the old Bennett property. Taxes have been paid on same for a number of years although the
<br />building was not occupied and was in a very dilapidated ccndition.
<br /> On or about the 7th day of July, 1939, as attorney for W.M. Stokes, Sr., resi-
<br />duary legatee under the will of Emily M. Rogers, deceased, who is now owner of said property,
<br />I obts~ned a ps, mit for the razing of said building and same bm~s been razed.
<br /> Therefore, in view of the fact that this building has been torn down, request
<br />is hereby made that W.E. Stokes, Sr., be relieved of the ps~ment of taxes assessed on said
<br />building for the last half of this year.
