At a regular meeting of the City Council, held October 24th, 1939, at ?:OO
The following communications from t?~e 0ity Manager were re~d:

1st The Manager presented the following letter and recon~.~ended an appro
priation of $!25.OO for same:

"Referring to the underground, tank and metered pu~o for gasoline at
.the City Armory, mentioned by Captain Atkins in our conference last Saturday morning.
The Texas Oil Company (Mr. Allen) has consented to sell the City the
following used equipment: -
i Te3zk550 gallons ~25. OO
I Pump with meter 60.00

$85.OO
We can probably install this equipment for $40.OO making a total ef
$125.OO; t?~s item is not in the budget for the Armory for the year 1939, but I think we have
money enough in the budget to cover the cost.
It may be that you can obtain a lower price from another Oil Company
supplying gasoline to the Oity.
If you should decide not to spend this money in 1939, I suggest that
you add the amount to the budget which I will submit for the year 1940, as the present method
of storing and using gasoline creates a fire hazard.
Yours truly,

Davis, Superintendent."

Eotion of Er. Howard to appropriate 3125.OO for said purpose was adopted,
Ave. crossing. This is the actual amount that we paid. the factory for damages.
On October-lyth, I notified the Atlantic Coast Line that we had
paid the factory in full and requested the railroad company to forward check to the City to
cover same. A few days later, the Coast Line Attorney, ~r. Taylor, called to see us ~nd of -
feted to pay one half of the amount of the damage which the City Attorney and ~ager refused.
It s~pears now that we ~lll have to bring suit, which will be done at once, if there is no
objection, as I am convinced that is the only way we can recover the full amount of the dam -
