Fox, George L. Grimes, James N.Howa~d, W.R. Hut- <br /> chins, Frank D. Lav~re~ce, C. E. Warren, H. Earl Weiseman, Pearle J. Wil - <br /> eon, and Chas~ F. Harper, City-Manager~ <br /> Minutes of regular meeting held November 28th, were read and ~oproved. <br /> The following communications f rom the City Manager were read: <br /> let - "Some bad le~ks have developed in the quarters occppied by the ~anish <br /> story of the Chambers Fire Company. <br /> War Veterans on the top ~ne City Engineer estimates material and labor necessary to remedy <br /> the trouble will cost approximately ~lOO. OO. <br /> I request an appropriation of $!OO,.OO to ma~e the necessary repairso" <br /> Motion cf Mr. Hutchins that we concur in the Manager's recommendation and ap- <br /> propriate $1OO.OO for said purpose, was adopted, and bY the following vo~e: <br /> Ayes: Leigh, ~ox, Grimes, Howard, Hutehins, Lawrence, Warren, <br /> ~eise~u, Wilson <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 2nd - "In accordance with"the term~ of the '~eed Ordinance, adopted by your <br /> body on Aoril llGh. 1939, it became necessary for us to cut weeds-on ~50 vacant lots, the cost <br /> of which~as been <br /> I request that an appropriation of <br /> vice Department, at this time, to cover thio cost. The amount will be charged against the <br /> property owners on their tax bills and should come back i nrc the City Treasury next year." <br /> Notion of Mr. Fox to concur in the Manager's recommendation and to appropriate <br /> $676.~ for sa~d purpose, was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Leigh, Fox, Grimes, Howard~ Hutohins, Lawrence, Warren, <br /> ~eiseman, Wilson <br /> None <br /> <br /> 3rd - The Manager presented the following ordinance, which, on motion of Mr. <br />Howard, was placed on its first reading: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO REQUIRE THE CITY 0OLLECTOR WHEN INFORMED <br /> OF THE ~TENTION OF ANY PERSON TO REMOVE FROM THE CITY, <br /> TO COLLEOT ALL CITY TAXES ASSESSED AGAINST SUOH PERSON, <br /> AND ALL WATER BILLS OWING BY HIM BEFORE HE REMOVES ~ROM <br /> THE CITY." <br /> <br />~th - <br /> <br />The Manager presented the following ordinance: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANOE REQUIRING PERSONS 2~OVING HOUSV~EOLD GOODS OR <br />PEP~ONAL EFPECTS OF PROPLE OHANGING THEIR PLACES OF RE~I - <br />DENCE WITHIN THE CITY OR REMOVING FROM THE CITY, TO FUPJ~ISH <br />INFOPd,~ATION REGARDING SUCK REMOVAL TO THE CITY COLLECTOR OF <br />THE CITY, MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO GIVE A FIOTITIOUS NAME, AND <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION." <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Motion of Nrc Weiseman to .place said ordinance on its first <br /> <br />The following communication from the City Attorney was read: <br /> <br />reading, was <br /> <br /> "In connection with the letter of R. Lo Hutchins, Commissioner of the Revenue, <br />referred t o me at your last meeting, I find that the building in .question belonging to James <br />P. Harrell was wrecked and should not have been assessed for taxes. He obtained a permit ~o <br />wreck the building on March 30th, 1938, and the Building Inspector's report shows that the <br />same was wrecked when he inspected it on April l, 1938~ Mr. Harre!l has paid the 1939 taxes <br />and should be refunded the sum of $2.50." <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Weiseman to concur in the Attorney's recommendation, was adopted <br /> <br />The following letter was read: <br /> <br /> "There is in the City Ool!ec~or's office, a shortage of $249.81. This short- <br />age has been accumulating since 1933, and through ~he collection of eleven million dollars in <br />his office, which is an exceedingly low amount. <br /> I am recommending ~hat you appropriate $249.81 to replace this shortage~ <br /> Yours tru!y~ <br /> <br />L.
