I have checked the taxes and it is pro I
per that the City Collector be relieved from the collection of the same.
The list as submitted by Mr. Parker shows the reasons for the relief. In
many cases th~ relief is due ~o a double assessment and where this occurs the tax tickets
shoul? be gotten out of the way. The m~ority of reliefs has oecurred~in cases where either
the Cmty or School Board b~s purchased the orbper~y or has caused it to be eold~ for the enVor~
ment of its tax lien. Where the property h~s been sold. either to the City or others for th~ ~
forcement of the tax lien~ I believe it will be advisable for the City Auditor to retain the
tax tickets and olace them in a soecial file. In some instances the people have been notified
by a publication ~nd may some day ~pear and attempt to show the taxes were not owing."

Motion

Report
and ordered filed.

of Mr. Fox to concdr in the At~orney~s recommendation, was adopted.
of the Accounting Department for the month of March~ was received

Bill of J'.
