<br />ff. C. Peavy th~t~he 0.ity payhim $157.2~, the payment of which~ would give him full pay for
<br />time lost.between~Deoember ~5th, 193g and~Iarch 9th, 1939, due to injury received whileon
<br />duty as~ a policeman; he having received $153.14 as compensation w~ioh, together with the
<br />amount asked for in this request~ would pay him for full time.

<br /> l~tion of Mr. Howard to refer same to the City Nanager and City Attorney, was
<br />adopted.

<br /> The following communications from the 0ity Manager were received:
<br />
<br /> 1st - "Last year, we donated $50.OO~to defray expenses of the Nemorial Day
<br /> celebration for ~he white people and $~5.OO for the colored celebration.
<br /> I suggest that we appropriate $75.00 at this time for that pumpose."
<br />
<br /> I~oti~of Nr. Fox to concur in the Manager's recommendation,_ was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 2nd - "Lass year~ we paid Mrs. ~ulllvan, a widow, $50,00 for the rent~ of sev-
<br /> eral lots she owns near the Navy Yard, ~o be used for soft ball for the Navy Yard and baseball
<br /> for ~he school children of that wa~d.
<br /> I would like authority t~ do ~he same this year. Her agent here is
<br /> Captain Pat Lyons."

<br /> Bill of J. Shirley Hope, State Game Warden, fordestroying g3 tagless dogs at
<br />$2~50 each, totaling $20?.50, was received, and on motion of Er. Hutohins, the Treasurer was
<br />authorized to pay same from funds in her hands from collection of Dog Taxes.

<br />The following letter was read:

<br /> "The Memorial Day Committee cordially invites you, and through you, the mem
<br />bets of the City Council, to occupy places on the dox~town reviewing stand and the speakers
<br />sta~ at the Naval Hospital on ~he morning of May 3Oth, next, at which time local Nemorial ex-
<br />ereises will be held.
<br /> The committee felt it might be of some advantage to all concerned for this
<br />feature to have advance a~tention, which accounts for the early invitation.
