May 14, 1996 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May <br />14, 1996, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, <br />Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, James T. Martin, <br />Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., Ronald W. Massie, <br />City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />96-169 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 1996, for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor.~' <br /> <br /> 96-170 The following items were discussed in <br />Work Session: <br /> <br />the Public <br /> <br /> 1. TRT - Light Rail <br /> 2. Police Report <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, <br />boards, or commissions, as permitted by Subsection (A) (1). <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the condition, <br />acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or <br />the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by <br />Subsection (A) (3). <br /> <br /> (3) Discussion concerning a prospective business or <br />industry or expansion of an existing business or industry where <br />no previous annoucement has been of sa~e in the community, as <br />permitted by Subsection (A)(5). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were <br />heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br /> Gloria O.
