<br />On motion of Mr. Hutch_ins, the following resolution was adopted:
<br />
<br />"WHEREAS, the accouters and records of the office of A.E. Parker,
<br /> City Collector, were audited by L.O.Brinson, City Clerk & Auditor,
<br /> as *f February l~th, 194t, and according to the report of the City
<br /> Clerk and Auditor, were found correct, as shown by the books of
<br /> the 0ity; and
<br />- WHEREAS, it appears that it is the duty of the City Council-to
<br /> h~ve examined yearly, ~he list of uncollected taxes, and to credit
<br /> the Collector such t~axes, as in their opinion, could not have been
<br /> collected ~th due diligence; and
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears that A.E. Parker~Oity Collector, should be
<br /> credited with all ~t~xes~levied in 1950, remaining uncollected on
<br /> the nineteenth day of February 194!, the amount of~ which is shown
<br /> in said report of L.C. Brinson, Cit~ Clerk & Auditor.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the Council of the City of Ports-
<br /> mouth, that A.E. Parker, Oity Collector, be credited-~th all un -
<br /> collected taxes levied in 19~O, remaining in his o~fice on ~ebruary
<br /> 19th, 1941, and that he be relieved of responsibility for not having
<br /> collected the same, but nothing herein contained shall be construed
<br /> as relieving the payment of said taxes by the persons owing same,
<br /> or in relieving A. Eo Parker, City Collector, from his responsibility
<br /> for any sums so: collected.#
<br />
<br /> Bill of ,J. Shirley ttope, State Game Warden, for destroying fifty tagless
<br />dogs at $2.50 each, totaling $125.00, was presented, and on motion of Mr~ Hutchins, the Treas~
<br />urer was authorized to pay same from funds dn her hands from collection of Dog Taxes.

<br /> Oompensatlon report of the Commissioner of Revenue, for ~ebruary, was re -
<br />ceived, ~and on motion of Mr. Fox, approved for payment.

<br />~ne following letter was read and referred to the City Attorney:

<br /> "When we e~oplied for license for the sale of beer and the operation of a
<br />stag hotel at 100 High St., the 0ity Collector compelled us to pay a full year's tax as fol-
