June 10, 1996 At a Called Meeting of the City Council held on Monday, June 10, 1996, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sro, James C~ Hawks, James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. 96-198 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 CrawfOrd Street, at'5:00 p.m~, Monday, June I0, 1996, for the purpose of a Publ~U Work Session. ~ ~ In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 96-199 - The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Mar!rview Medical Center - Portsmouth General Hospital 2. Environmental Component - Comprehensive Plan Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, as permitted by Subsection {A) {1) . (2) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A) (3). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned. APPROVED Gloria O. Webb Mayor Sheila Powell Pittman, City Clerk CMC/ Councilman P. Ward Robinett, Jr. was absent.
