Haug, <br />City Nanagero <br /> <br />Vice President Lawrence in ~ke Ohairo <br /> <br />June 26th, <br /> <br /> Minutes of regular meeting held June 24th and adjourned regular meeting of <br />and called meeting of July.2nd, were read and approved. <br /> <br /> The following comm~mioations from the 0ity Manager were read: <br /> <br /> 1st - "I respectfully report that I have made the following appointments: <br /> Dr. Arthur H. Cummings, Director of Health <br /> X.D. Murden, Superintendent, Water Department <br /> F.J~ Bergeron, Chief Engineer, Public Service D~oartment." <br /> <br /> On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br /> 2nd - ~I respectfully submit herewith an ordinance which will be necessary <br />in order to clothe the new Director of Heal~h~th the proper authority. <br /> All ordinances now pertaining to health and sanitation vest the autho- <br />rity in the Health Officer and/or the Director of Public Welfare.~ <br /> <br /> On motion of ~.~r. Hutchins, the ~ules were suspended and the following ordinance <br />was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Fox, Grimes, Howard, Hutohins, Lawrence, Warren, Wilson <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> ~AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING FROM THE DIREOTOR O~ PUBLIC <br />WELFARE TO THE DIREOTOR OF HEALTH ALL DUTIES RELATING TO <br />HEALTH AND SANITATIONo~ <br /> <br /> 3rd - "At the regular meeting of the City 0ouncil, on June 24th, a resolution <br />by the Ministerial Union, relative to houses of ill-fame, w~s referred to the 0ity Manager. ~ <br /> I beg to report that I have had a conference with the 0bier of Polic~ <br />and the head of the Plain Clothes Squad, concerning this matter, and subsequently discussed <br />it with the Chairman of the Morals and Social Service 0ommittee of the Ministerial Union1. <br /> I wish ~o report that special attention is being given to this matter <br />by the Police Department." <br /> <br />On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br /> 4th - "Under the present laws governing the use of sidewalks, we have dlffi- <br />culty <br /> keeping <br /> show <br /> off High Street. <br /> caseS~he~ City Attorney has prepared the attached ordnance which will give <br />th~ desired result, and I respectfully recommend its adoptlon.~ <br /> <br />was adopted: <br /> <br />Motion of R ir. Hutchins to place the following ordinance on its first reading, <br /> <br /> ~AN O.RDINANCE TO PBOHIBIT STATIONARY SHOW OASES UPON <br />THE STREETS OF THE OITY." <br /> <br /> 5~h - "I rospectfully recommend the adoption of the attached ordinance, which <br />was prepared by the Oity Attorney, and Which prohibits parking on the east side of E~m Avenue, <br />between High St. and the George Washington Highway, and on the we~t side of Ninth Avenue, be- <br />tween High and North St~eetso" <br /> <br />adopted~ <br /> <br />Motion o f Mr. Fox to place the following ordinance on its first reading, was <br /> <br /> "A~ ORDINANOE PROHIBITING THE PARKING O~ VEHIOLES ON - <br /> THE EAST SIDE OF ELM AVENUE BETWEEN HIGH STREET AND THE GEORGE <br /> WA~SHINGTON HIGHWAY A~ND ON THE WEST SIDE OF NINTH AVENUE BET~EN <br /> HIGH AND NORTH STREETS AND PRESCRIBING PENAL2IES THEREFOR." <br /> <br /> ~6th ~ "Effective July lsd, the Glensheallah Golf course was placed under the <br />Division of Parks and Cemeteries, with all golf fees being collected and turned in to the City <br />treasury, in the same manner in which we operate the golf course at the 0ity Park. <br /> I am thoroughly convinced that the Glensheallah golf course can and <br />should be self~supporting, so far as maintenance and ooeration are concerned, and I have ~ - <br />ranged a bRdget for the remaining half of the year, wh~ich we estimate will be slightly lese <br />t~n the anticipated receipts which are based on figures supplied by Chandler Harper, for his <br />operation during the last twelve months.
