the undersigned business and professional men, doing business in the
do here~y, request that no parking meters be put on Washington Street.
It will work a decided hardship on patients of pleysicians
and dentists. People with heart, ailments, old people, crip-
ples, and mothers with babies in their arms, will find it
especially difficult because of having to walk a greater
distance, sometimes ~hree or four blosk~.
Second: Many patients find they have to wait considerably longer
them an hour to get in to see the doctor, consequently,
they can not use the meters.
Third: There is a continual turn-oVer of parking spaces between
London suud: County Sts., and, while naturally there is
some congestion~ it unquestionably will be greater if
meters are installed.
Fourth:-if meters were Lustalled, ten less cars could be parked
between High and King Sis., and twenty less cars between
High and Queen Sts. A total of 30 cars within two blod~s.
Therefore, we humbly.beg ttLis honorable body to leave Washington St.
as it is.
Signed,
dabell T. Mercer and sundry others."
