June 11, 1996 <br /> <br />96-207 , Letter from the City Manager reco~nending adoption <br />of a resolution c°~veying block 23 of PortCentre Commerce <br />Park to the Portsmouth Industrial Development Authority <br />(IDA) . <br /> <br /> "The Industrial Development Authority is preparing to <br />convey Block 23 in the Portcentre Commerce Park to B & B <br />Manufacturing, Inc., a company which manufactures tents and <br />wholesale cemetery products and supplies. The property will <br />be conveyed to the City by the Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority, and the City will convey the block to the <br />IndustrialDevelopment Authority. GroUnd breaking for this <br />project is tentatively set for the month of June. <br /> <br /> I, therefore, recommend adoption of this resolution <br />granting authority to the City Manager to convey said block <br />to the Industrial Development Authority of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to <br />adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY <br />BLOCK 23 OF PORTCENTRE COMMERCE PARK TO THE INDUSTRIAL <br />DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, <br />authorized to convey to the Industrial Development Authority <br />of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, all that certain piece <br />or parcel of land located in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />known as Block 23 on that certain plat entitled "Subdivision <br />of PortCentre Commerce Park, Portsmouth, Virginia", dated <br />November 6, 1986, revised on July 23, 1987, ~de by <br />Rouse-Sirlne Associates, Ltd., which said plat is duly <br />recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circui= Court of the <br />City of Portsmouth in Map Book 13, at page 253 et. seq..· <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, <br />Mays~: None <br />Abstained: Robinett <br /> <br />Webb <br /> <br />96-208 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to release and <br />vacate such easements, or portions thereof as may be <br />necessary to the continued development of the Admirals's <br />Landing Project, and to execute any other document he deems <br />necessary and appropriate to said project. <br /> <br /> "The owners of Admiral's Landing have agreed to convey <br />to the City a portion of property lying between their <br />building and the Seawall. They will retain ownership of so <br />n%uch as is needed for the construction of a swinu~ing pool. <br />Construction of the swi~uning pool, and other uses of the <br />parcel being conveyed to the city, requires the developer, <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and the City <br />to relocate and restructure easements and other development <br />documents pertaining to this project. <br /> <br /> I, therefore recommend adoption of this resolution <br />~ranting authority to the City Manager to execute easement <br />releases, and other documents necessary to the continuing <br />development of the Admiral's Landing Project." <br /> <br /> <br />
