May 26th~ 19~2o <br /> <br /> To do this it is necessary that we have a flower that could be used to <br />add beauty to many of the unsightly Roots throughout our City, aswell as to encourage our flo- <br />rists to sell a hardy flower, for this purpose. <br /> I am therefore requesting that the Mayor appoint a committee of three to <br />recommend to the City Manager a permanentPortsmouth-City Flower. <br /> <br />YoUrS truly, <br /> <br />On motion o f Mr. P~I!, the communication was approved. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lawrence sta~ed that sugar rationing for bakers was based on our <br />1940 population and now our population is nearly double that of 1940, leaving the bakers with <br />an insufficient supply of sugar to conduct~thsir business and his motion that ~he Manager take <br />t~s matter up with the proper authorities and try to secure better ration of suEar for bs_kers, <br />was adopted. <br /> <br /> Motion o f ~'~' <br /> ~.&awrence that we ~oprove the petition o~ Robert B. B~ley <br />to establish a miniature golf.course on the 2000 block of High St. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Wilson zo lay the matter on the table untii next meeting, <br />was lost, and by the~hllowing vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Fox, Hows~d, Wilson - 3 <br />Nays: Leigh~ Grimes, Ha!!, Hutchins, La~,~ence, - 5 <br /> <br />Vote being ~aken on l~r. Lawrence's motion, same was adopted, and by the <br /> <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes.
