Eotion of Mr. Hutchins that the City 0ollector be instructed to eend out <br />both~al estate and personal property tax not%ces at the same time, was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hutohins stated that an auto carrying a patient to.the hospital, travel-~ <br />ing at an excessive spe~ n~rth on Effingham Bt., through the red.light at High St., collided <br />with and turned over a~ruck at the corner of Effingham snd High Sts., and asked the Man- <br />ager if he could make some regulation to cover same. <br /> Mr. Fo× announced the death of Dr. J. T. Eiller on September 21st, and his <br />motion t~t a committee be appointed to present suitable resolutions of respect, was adopted. <br />The Chair appointed Eessrs. Fox, Hall and Hutchins on said committee. <br /> <br /> Nation,of ~r. Fox.~o go into an executive session~ was ado~ ed. <br /> <br /> The Nanager presented the following: <br /> <br /> "The 0o-Onerative Association of the Portsmouth Navy Yard has suggested that <br />if the City will provide l~nd for an athletic field, the AssQciation will defrsy necessary ex- <br />penditures for a park,.showers, club house, etc. <br /> It will also be agree~ that the Associati.on will make an annual donation for <br />the City for u~keep, taxes, etc., but the City wil~ have entire supervision o f ~the project. <br /> The property that the ~anager would recommend will be discussed at a later <br />date." <br /> On ~otio~, the matter was referred to the City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> Er. Hutcl~ins stated that as the Manager ~i!l be out of the City from October! <br />lOth to 18th, -his motion to appoint Mr. Fox as Acting ity .Wianager, was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Eanager presented the 2ollowing: <br /> <br /> "I have interested the housing agencies in taking over the property adjoin- <br />ing Taylorsville as a housing unit. <br /> TheCity will expect the Federal Government to furnish sufficient money to <br />take care of the assessment, plus taxes and interezt, also provide sewers and water lines, <br />open streets and provide permanent pavements for the property, in lieu of taxes, and also <br />school entry rights for the children. <br /> I would appreciate authority to proceed with negotiations as quickly as <br />possible." <br /> Enrich of Er.
