506

July 9, 1996

"Construction has recently been completed on the new
Churchland Fire Station at Rivershore Road and Cedar Lane.
The original contract was for construction of the building
only. The site work for the facility was planned as a future
separate bid. However, as a result of a favorable cost from
the contractor, the site work was added to the building
contract and constituted a 21% increase to the orig~Lnal
contract amount. With additional change orders totaling 9%,
the final total for change orders (30%) will exceed the 25%
limit. Additional funding, however, is not required as the
project is within the original budget.

I, therefore, recommend City Council's approval to
exceed the 25% allowable limit on change orders."

Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to
exceed the 25% allowable limit on change orders pertaining to
the new Churchland Fire Station, and was adopted by the
following vote:

Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley
Nays: None

NEW BUSINESS

96-248 Boards and Commissions

There were no appointments.

96-249 - Items Submitted by Council Members

Councilman Pitts requested another work session on the toll
booths for Pinners Point Connector.

Councilman Griffin acknowledged the City's benefit from the
water sales to the City of Chesapeake.

Vice Mayor Clemons inquired about the status on salary
increases for City Council members.

96-250 Continued Non-Agenda SpeakerS

1.
