July 9, 1996 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting. of the City Council on Tuesday, July <br />9, 1996, there were P~sent: <br /> <br /> Mayor Jsanes W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. <br />Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James T. Martin, Cameron C. <br />P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, Ronald W. <br />City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />Clemons, <br />Pitts, <br />Massie, <br /> <br />96-237 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to <br />be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of <br />City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July <br />9, 1996, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 96-238 - The following items were discussed in the <br />Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. West Norfolk Road Project <br /> <br />2. Organizational Development <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to <br />go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, <br />boards, or con~nissions, as permitted by Subsection (A) (1) . <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the condition, <br />acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or <br />the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by <br />Subsection {A) (3). <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefings by <br />staff members, consultants or attorneys pertaining to actual <br />or probable litigation, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia <br />certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge <br />during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the <br />City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were <br />identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was <br />convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting <br />by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />Dr. J~unes W.
