January 26th~ !94~. <br /> <br /> In connection herewith~ motion of Mr. Hall that the following four items <br />be referred ~o the City Mansger~ was adopted: <br /> <br />(1) The above letter from the Lee Yard.Civic Club. <br />('2)-A~pointment of a Director of Transportation. <br />(~) Express service tm and from differen~ points and the <br /> Navy <br /> Yard. <br />(~) Expediting service to Pin~ rs Point. <br /> <br />the City Mansger: <br /> <br />The following letter was read and on motion of Mr, Hutchins, referred to <br /> <br /> ~We feel it necessary to write this letter at this time in regard to <br />the Public Transoortation facilities. We have hesitated mn' *~ne past in ~ing~ ~ thi~ letter, as <br />we felt reasonably sure that at the recommendations of a representative of the 0ffics of De - <br />lense Transportation and of other commit~e~s~ who have thoroughly investigated the transpor~ <br />tation facilities of the City ~hat the deplorable conditions would have been corrected by this <br />time. <br /> The membership of my organization have requested that I file this comolat~ <br />with you as the condition is growing worse due to the further rationing of gasoline and tb~e i~ <br />creasing demand on public facilities to transport these men to and from work. <br /> We feel tha~ with the re-routing of certaim~buses and more buses going <br />directly from residential seo~ions to the Yard and from the Yard directly to the residential <br />sections and with the ~option o f many other suggestions w~oh ~ve bee~ made tna~ the trans- <br />portation conditions could be greatly improved. <br /> Please give this your immediate consideration as we feel that it is nee- <br />essary at this tLme. <br /> Yours sinoerely~ <br /> <br />On motion adJourned~ <br /> <br />John D. ~hillios, Pr~s~ <br /> Boilermakers Local ~57.~* <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Pre si dent <br /> <br /> <br />
