<br /> 12th - "It is necessary for the City to pass an crdin~noe recognizing the
<br />Community Library and to appoint a representative on its Board in order that the 0ity may
<br />qualify for additional funds from the State.
<br /> I am therefore requesting that the following ordinance be placed
<br />on its first reading:

<br /> M.W. Babb, for year 1938, paid April 26th, 1939 - $ 2.68
<br /> Juliette Babb, for year 1939, paid January 3l, 1940- 3,96
<br /> Mills Babb, for year 19~O, paid January 26, 1941 -
<br /> M. W. Babb, for year 1941, paid-November 21, 19~l - 3.?5
<br /> I find ~hat household furniture was assessed against Robert E. Bass on the
<br />same premises for the same years, and the four years taxes were paid in ~he name of Mro~ Base
<br />on March 2nd, 19~2.
<br /> It is contended that the furniture belonged to Mr. Bass and that it should
<br />not have been assessed against Mr. and Mrs. Babb. I have no way of checking the returns at
<br />this ti~e, but Mr. Howard assures me that Mr. & Mrs. Babb have never o~med any furniture but
<br />that they live with Mrs. Babb~s daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bass, and that the taxes paid by Mr. and
<br />Mrs. Babb should be refunded.~
