<br />Motion of Nfl Hutchins ~o lay on table for further consideration, was adopted.

<br />The following resolution was prese~ed by the City Auditor:
<br />
<br />"WHEREAS, the accounzs mud records of the office of A. E. Parker, City
<br />Collector, were audited by L. C. Brinson, City Clerk & Auditor, as of
<br />March 22nd, ~9~3, and according to the repo~ of the City Clerk & Au-
<br />ditor, were found Correct, as shown by the books of the ~ity; and
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears that it is the duty of the City Council to have
<br />examined yearly, the list of uncollected taxes, and to credit the
<br />Collector such taxes, as in their opinion, could not have been collected
<br />with due diligence; and
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears that A. E. Parker, City Collector, should be crc -
<br />dited with a~l taxes levied in 19~2, remaining uncollected on the twen-
<br />ty second day of March, 19~3, the amount of which is shown in said re -
<br />port of L. Ci Brinson, City Clerk & Auditor.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />that A. E. Parker, City Collector, be credited with ali uncollected taxes
<br />levied in 19%2, remaining in his office on March 22nd, 1943, and that he
<br />be reliSved of his responsibility for not having collected the same, but
<br />nothing herein contained shall be construed as relieving the payment of
<br />said taxes by the persons owing same, or in relieving A. E. Parker, City
<br />Oollgctor, from his responsibility for any sums so collected."
