Howard, <br /> Pearle J.Wilson <br /> <br /> Minutes of regular meeting held March 9th, 1943,were read and aooroved. <br /> The following communications from the City Manager were read: <br /> <br /> 1st - ~Please make an appropriation of $34,500. for the new incinerator. <br />~ne Federal Government has apportioned $80~570. for.this.purpose." <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Hutchins to lay on table until next meeting, was adopted. <br />2nd - The Manager offered the following resolution: <br /> <br /> "RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF THE UNITED STATES <br /> OF A/~ERICA VA 44-269-Water Supp~ <br /> <br /> ~ ~ ~ ~ Facilities <br />WPd~REAS, there has been~filed with ~he Feaeral ~orks Agency <br />for and in behalf of the 0ity of Portsmouth, Virginia (herein <br />called the "Owner"), an %oplication fo~ Federal assistance <br />under the Defense Public Works Program, and the United States <br />of America, acting by and ~hrough the Federal Works Admlnis~rator~ <br />has Sransmitted ~o the Owner an Offer of Federal assistance in <br />connection with the public works referred to in said application <br />and described in said Offer; and <br />WHERF~S, said Offer has been duly read in open meeting and has <br />been fully considered in ~every respect in accordance with the <br />pertinent rules of procedure and legal requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, said Offer has been made a part of ~the public records <br />of the Owner; and <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable and in the public interest that <br />said Offer be accepted: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the 0ity Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Va., that the said Offer of the United States of <br />America, a true s~ud correct copy of which is he re~o attached, <br />be and the same hereby is accepted without reservation or quali- <br />fication." <br /> <br />lowing vote: <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Hutchins, said resolution was adopted, and by the fol <br /> <br />Ayes: Leigh, <br /> Wilson <br />Nays. VA 44-1~3, ~ere opened on February 18th, 19~3 <br />and bids were tabulated, and <br /> ~HEBEAS, the'proposal of J. Lawrence Smith, Portsmouth, Va. of <br />SyS,_yly.
