Warren, P~arle J.Wilson and Arthur S. <br /> Owens, City Manager. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the regular meeting held July 13th, 19~3, were read and <br /> <br />~Dproved. <br /> <br />Community Ho spital, <br /> <br /> Privilege of the floor was granted a com~ittee from the Portsmouth <br />who presented the following resolution~ <br /> <br /> "~qEBEAS, the Portsmouth Community Hospital, Inc. re- <br /> ceived its charter o? creation from the State Corpora- <br /> tion Commission of the State of Virginia, on the 6th day <br /> of July, 1943, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the said institution <br /> in its regular meeting on the 26th day of July, 1943, <br /> adopted a resolution, directing its Committee to &opear <br /> before the Honorable Council of our 0ity requesting assis~ <br /> tance toward the construction and operation of the Hos - <br /> pital; <br /> THERE~OBE, Be it Resolved that the Honorable Council of <br /> the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, will give its moral sup, <br /> port and influence in obtaining help from these in position <br /> to re~der help for the said institution, and, <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That th~ Honorable 0ouncil go on <br /> record and instruct, empower s~ud direct the City M~ager, <br /> Mr. Owens, to render all possible aid, help and assistance to <br /> the Board of Directors of the Oommu~ity Hospital in an effort <br /> to bring the said project into being; and that the said <br /> City Manager, under ~he said authority, exercise, broad powers <br /> in ~uy way in carrying out the object and pu~oort Of the said <br /> resolution." <br /> tion ~ <br /> On mo , said resolution was adopted. <br /> <br />The following communications from the City l~nager were read: <br /> <br />dropped off ~oproximately <br />fense Transportation.~ <br /> <br /> is$ - nThe Virginia Electric & Power Company income for the month <br />eight per cent. <br /> This was due to the changes ordered by the Offide of De ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
