Overton, <br /> <br />That the City of Portsmouth and County of Norfolk, Vir- <br />ginia, begin the preparation of a compreh~heive plan for the <br />orderly disposition of public war housing situated in t~ <br />City of Portsmouth and the County of~Ncrfolk, Virginia, by <br />the following procedure: <br /> <br />(A) <br /> <br />That a committee~of ten persons be formed, to be known <br />as the "Portsmouth -Norfolk County-Committee for the <br />Dispcsition~of Public War Housing", said Committee to <br />be composed ef$ <br />Two members appointed by the City Council of Portsmouth; <br />T~o members appointed, by the Board of Supervisors of <br /> No~folk~Oounty, <br />Three members from the Norfolk County Ghamber cf 0ommerce; <br />One member from the Portsmouth 0hamber of 0ommeroe; <br />One member from the Portsmouth Housing Authority; <br />One member from the Portsmouth Real Estate Board. <br /> <br />That th~ Portsmouth-Norfolk Oounty Committee for the Dispo- <br />sition of Public War Housin~ elect a chairman and other of- <br />ficers desired and proceed ~o draw a comprehensive plan for <br />the orderly dispdsition of public war housing in their opin- <br />ion best suited to the needs of the City of Portsmouth and <br />Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County for suggestions and <br />approval; <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> E. O. Allen, 0hairman of said Joint ~meeting. <br />SeCretary of said Joint Meeting, February 15th, 1944.~ <br /> <br /> On motion ~f Mr~ ~tchSDs~ said resolution was adopted and the P~esident <br />re-appointed Mr. Fox.and Mr. nowar~ ea~a ~o~ittee. <br /> <br />The following communications from the Oity Manager were read: <br /> <br /> let - "Please authorize the 0ity Clerk to allow dedudtions for the United <br />War Fund f rom payrolls, ~ot to exceed six occasions of deletions, between July 1st, 19~ and <br />September 3Otb, 1944. <br /> This is done to expedite the collection for the War Fund as well <br />to render service to those who would care to subscribe." <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Lawrence to concur in the Manager's resommendation, ~s <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br /> 2nd - "I have been n~tified by Dr. L. J. Rope~, Director of Local F~alth <br /> ~ that they have assigned Dr. Blinn A. Buell of the <br />Service of the State Department of Heal,n, <br />U. S. Public Health Service as Health Officer for the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />as <br /> <br /> Dr. Buell arrived in Portsmouth Feb~.~ary <br />ize himself~lth the work prior to Dr. Cameron's departure." <br /> <br />On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br />21st in order to fami!iar-~ <br /> <br /> 3rd - "Progress is being made on the m~ns for zoning and it is the commit-! <br />te~s hope that we will be able to present back ~o this body some recommendation within the <br />next ninety days." <br /> <br />On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br />ary 21st, 194g." <br /> <br />4th - '~I have received the resignation of Frank A. E. <br /> <br />Harrell, Police <br /> <br /> 6th - "George W. Pearte, a patrolman in t he Police Department, has re <br />signed effective February 8th, end his resignation has been accepted.~' <br /> <br />On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br /> 7th - "Alex Kessler of the Portsmouth Garden Aoartments, has requested the <br />Oity to take a settlement of $2,500.00 for sewer installment cost ~or which there has been a <br />previous charge of $3,gO0.00. <br /> Mr. Kessler feels that this charge is excessive and b~s request is <br />that it be brought before the 0ouncil for final disposition." <br /> <br />committee of ~wo <br />committee. <br /> <br /> On the recommendation of the Oity Manager, this matter was referred to a <br />to investigate.
