~y 23rd, 1944. - J~e Sth, 1944. <br /> <br />to the Creek~ mnd the same areovergrown with weeds, extremely high grass and are a breeding <br />place for flies, mosquitos and other insects so obnoxious to the health and well-being of the <br />residents, as well as being offensive to the view and senses~of said residents. <br /> Wherefore, it is respectfully requested th~ your Body take such steps <br />that will bring about a speedy correction of the conditions complained of. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Mrs. F. Leigh, Leslie T. Fox, Russell M. Hall, W. R. Hutchins, <br /> Frank D. Lawrence, Co E. Warren, Pearle Jo Wilson and Arthur <br /> S. Owens, City Manager. <br /> <br /> The following call for the meeting was reads <br /> <br /> 1st UPlease call a special meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, <br /> at 6:00 P.M.~ to consider the Jail question." <br /> <br />6: CO <br /> <br /> 2nd - The Oity Manager read a letter ~rom the Commissioner of Corrections <br />and commented that the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County had appointed~Er. Treakle and <br />Mr. Haywood a committee to confer with him, with power to act, with reference to the Jail. <br /> <br /> The plan was that the County and the City were to return ~heir <br />male prisoners and the female prisoners were to be incarcerated on the ground floor of the <br />Norfolk County Jail. The Oity was to pay Tae ~st of keeping, based on actual lodging cost and <br />the City was not to participate in any construction cost, due to changes in the Norfolk County <br />Jail. <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. Fox that the City Manager ~nd 0ity Attorney be appointed a <br />committee to confer ~ith the committee from the Board of Supervisors to work out a plan tha~ <br />would be agreeable to both bodies, with power~to act, was adhered. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />ApProved <br /> <br /> President. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br /> <br />
