Minutes of regular meeting held Augmst 8th, 1944, were read and ap - Report of the Resolutions Committee: "WHEREAS, Mr. Daniel L. Snyder, has been connected with the Wate~ Department of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the past thirty-four years and has performed his duties in a most accept~o!e manner; AND WHEREAS, Mr. Snyder, upon the advice of his physician feels it necessary to resign his oositionbecause of his health; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED T~at ~he Oouncil of the City of Portsmouth sincerely regrets the loss of the services of so faithful an associate, fully recognizing _his inestimable worth and extends its best wishes for an early recovery of his health~ AND BE iT FURTHER B~SOLVED that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the Council of the City of Ports- mouth and a copy sent to Mr. Snyder. Mr. Hall spoke relative to the question of personal privileges thanked the ~ouncil for the many courtesies extended to him since he has been a me~ber of the Council, as will retire as of August 3!st, The following communi6ations from the City Manager were read: !st - ~'0oun¢ilman Howard requested me, at our regular meeting on Ju- ly 25th to report back the number of automobile licenses sold for the four-week period. I re - ported th'ere had been 4, Y30 licenses sold~o July 25th. including August 21st, there have been a total of 4,915 licenses sold ~ an increase of 185."
