<br /> The Chair stated that the Council had, on March 14th, !9~., adopted a recom-
<br />mendation from theCity Msnager on Post-War plans and to appoint a committee of three co unci!mer
<br />to work with the Manager on said plan, and as no c~mmittee was appointed, he was now aoooint -
<br />ing Nessrs. Lawrence, Hutchins and Howard on said committee. -J

<br />the services of Brig. General Rollin L. Tilton, and I am therefore recommend-

<br />who for the last several years has commanded the harbor de -
<br />lenses of ChesaPeake Bay with headquarters at Fort Eonroe,
<br />VirMinia, has taken a keen interest in the civic affairs' of
<br />the communities embraced within his command, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the said General Tilton has given
<br />generously of his own ~ime and has, in proper cases, made
<br />available to these communities the facilities of his command,
<br />all of which has been of incalculable benefit tea.these communi-

<br />On motion of Mr. Hutchins, the recommendation of the City ~gnager was

<br /> 4th - "It will be necessary to extend our sanitary sewer line on Fourth
<br />Ave., thence down Charles St. to allow property owners to connect into our lin~.
<br /> The amount needed to complete this work will be $?25.00 for which
<br />I mequest a special appropriation."

<br /> Notion of Mr. Wilson ~o place an ~opropriation of $~R5.00 for said purpose
<br />on its first reading, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 5th - "We have completed our Project VA 44-324 Storm Sewers and Drains,
<br />and we exceeded our appropriation by ~1,052.30.
<br /> It will be necessary that this amount be appropriated in order to
<br />close the project."

<br /> Motion o f Mr. Hutchins to place an appropriation of $1,052.30 for said put-
<br />ecsc on its first reading, was adopted.

<br /> 6th - "AppreciaZing the fact that iz is possible in the future that our
<br />City may need a huge water supply, I am recommending that we purchase the Nottaway River line
<br />from the Federal Government at a sum not ~o exceed $50,0OO.00. ~
<br />
<br /> In the event that the Federal Government does not acceot our offer,
<br />I would like your authority to request that ~hey defer disposition of this line u~til the ces-
<br />sation of hostilities.
