Owens, City '~ , <br /> - - ~anager. <br /> <br />Minutes of regular meeting held November !~th were read, ~mended and ap - <br /> <br /> The President stated tha~ this meeting was eet as a public meeting of the <br />Council on the 1945 Budget, as advertised, ~ud invited anyone presen~ to exoress himself on the <br />19~5 Budget. No one appeared. <br /> <br />The following communications~om the City Manager were read: <br /> <br /> !st - "At the request of Councilman _Howard, I sm i~!osing a reoort of <br />1944."the activities of the Game Warden for the City Of Portsmouth~ from ~arch 1943, through October, <br /> <br />On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br />November 16th, 1944." <br /> <br />2nd - "I have appointed Mrs. <br />On motion o'rdered filed. <br /> <br />Myrtle Stewart a Policewoman, <br /> <br />effective <br /> <br /> 3rd - "D. V~ Thompson of 3107 High St. would like to cut eight cabins <br />into our sewer line, and in the past we have charged $25.00 per unit for this service. <br /> I am recommending that I be authorized to allow these eight cab- <br />ins to be cut in on the sewer line at a fee of $25.00 per unit." <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Grimes ~o concur in the Manager,s recommendation, was <br /> <br /> 4th - "We are in receipt of the attached letters with reference to our <br />recreational centers. It does not appear that we have been treated equitably with other com - <br />munities w~o have received allotments for buildings~" <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br /> "We have been instructed by the Central Office to advise you that the <br />above-mentioned project - VA 44-3~4 ReCreation - White - can not be submitted <br />at the present for %oproval because the funds appropriated by Con~ress under <br />the terms of the Lanham Act have been exhausted. <br /> We are sorry that the project can no~ be approved and can hold forth <br />no hope for a future approval unless a~.d unti~additional funds are made avail- <br />able to continde this program, <br /> Cordially yours, <br /> <br />%{m.
