<br />Davis, who asked the Council to pass ano rdinance allowing County taxicabs to b rihg County
<br />passengers into the City to three or more designated points and to receive oassengers at said
<br />designated points to go into the Oounty. ·

<br />the War, in Baltimore, and it is believed that conditions locally have eased up considerably.
<br /> Mr. Blakeley has been very co-operative and assured me o f his
<br />readines~ to aesist iu any way,~

<br /> 'WHEREAS, bids were opened o n December !yth, 19~3, for ~he
<br />furnishing and installation of ?~netian blinds for the Health
<br />Center for the City of Port~outh~ and
<br /> WHEREAS, the bid of the Door Engineering Company, in the
<br />amount of $485.00, was t~e lowest acceptable-bid,
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council. of the C~y o~ Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, that the contract for the furnishing and installation
<br />of these blinds be awarded to the Door Engineering Comoany and
<br />that the sum to be paid to said Door Engineering Company shall
<br />be $485.00, and that the contract be subject to the approval of
<br />the Federal Works Agency.,"

<br /> On motion of Mr. Hutchins, said resolution was adopted.

<br /> 4th - "The Federal Works Agency, agent for the United S~ates Government,
<br />has approved SwO co~fort stations, VA 44-412 for the City of Portsmouth, in the amount of
<br />$28,600.00. Please authorize the'Manager to purchase necessary land for the ooneSruction of
<br />these ~wo comfort stations.~'
