<br />resolution by the Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />authorizing this purchase,
<br /> T.~BEFOP~ Be it Besolved by the Council of the City
<br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Door Engineering Com-
<br />pany be awarded the contra6t in the ~mount of $275.60
<br />for the purchase of the Venetian blinds for Project
<br />VA 44r362, subject .~o t he aoproval of the Federal Works
<br />Agency."

<br />On motion of Mr. Warren, said resolution was adopted and by the following

<br />2nd - The City Manager presented the following resolution:
<br />
<br /> "Be it P~esolved by the 0ounoil of the City of Portsmouth,
<br /> yirginia, that Trinkle and Dobyns~ Contractors for the
<br /> construction of the Day Nursery Building, F.W.A. Project
<br /> VA ~4-362 be greeted a time extension of ~ninety ~90) days
<br /> on their contract time due to delay they have experienced
<br /> in obtaining the steel roof Joist,bther materials and
<br /> equipment, and the City will relieve Trinkle and Dobyns of
<br /> liquidated damages in connection here~,ith, orovided it meets
<br /> with the approval of the Federal Works A~ency."

<br />On motion of Mr. Hute2Ains, said resolution was adopted.

<br />3rd The Manager presented the following resol~ution:
<br />
<br /> "BE it Resolved by the Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br /> Virginia, that Trinkle and Dobyns, Contractors for the
<br /> construction of the Fire Headquarters Building,
<br /> Project lrA 44-143 be grant.ed a time extension of One Hun-
<br /> dred and twenty (120) days on their contract ~z..e due to
<br /> delay in shipment of steel Joi~ts, plumbi.ng supplies and
<br /> fabrication and erection of structural steel and other
<br /> supplies and materials, and the City will relieve Trinkle
<br /> and Dobyns of liquidated damages in. connection herewith,
<br /> orovided it mee~s with the approval of the Federal Works
<br /> Agency."

<br /> On motion of Mrl Hutchins, said resolution was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 4th - "YoU authorized me sometime ago ~o proceed with estimates as well as
<br />aontacting representatives of the Federal Works Agency relative to constructing one or more
<br />wings on our Fire Station, under Project VA 44-1=3.
<br /> Trinkle & Dobyns, 0ontractors on the Project, have forwarded me the
<br />attached letter, which I would like t o read a~ this time.
<br /> You will observe that the contractors are willing to construct both
<br />wing~ and I wouad therefore ~ecommend the ~doption of the attached resolutions and if they are
<br />agreeable, that you appropriate the sum of $23,000100 for the completion of the project."

<br /> The M~nagsr presented the following resolution:
<br />
<br /> ,WHEP~EAS, under Project VA 44-14~, the original amount of ~!40,OO0.00
<br /> was shared by the City ~ud ~ederal Governmen~ on a ~O-60 basis,
<br /> respectively, and
<br /> WHEREAS,~ it has become urgen~ and a necessity to construct a left
<br /> wing to the fire s~ation in order that efficiency, economy
<br /> and orotection to War workers can be guaranteed, and
<br /> ?~HF3{EAS, t~e Federal Works Agency~ representing the Federal C~vern-
<br /> men~, P~s signified its willingness to allow the balance of
<br /> the money left in the project to go toward the construction
<br /> of the left ~ing, provided the City will pay in excess for
<br /> its construction,
<br /> THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br /> Virginia, that the 0ity Manager be authorized to award, the
<br /> contract to Trinkle and Dobyns for the construction of the
<br /> lef~ wine and the City to pay the excess cost of the fore -
<br /> going, provided it meets with the ~oproval of the Federal
<br /> Works Agency."
