<br />Minutes of regular meeting held on February 13th were read and approved.

<br /> Mr. Howard, Chairman of Committee to ac~ ~,~th the City Manager for an
<br />increase in the amount of commodities for this area, reported the following:

<br /> ~The Council, at its regular meeting on January 23rd, ~opointed a commit-
<br />~ee consisting of His H~nor the Mayor, Councilman H. E. Wei~eman and myself to work with the
<br />Manager and other local persons in~erested in securing some relief from the a~ute shortages in
<br />canned milk, meats, gas, fuel oil, kero~ene~ coal and i~nrovements in our~transportation eye-
<br />
<br /> This Committee~ accompanied by C.C. Hall, rtpresenting the coal dealers,
<br />H. G. McCready, representing Petroleum and F. U. Ross, representing Transportation, conferred
<br />with Senator Harry Flood Byrd and Congressman Ralph W. Daughton~ relative to assistance.
<br /> Conferences were held with E. Go Hoc~uli, Director of Distribution and
<br />Marketing, Col. Olmstead, Director, Supply of War Foods, Dr. William Ockey, Community Credit
<br />and Food Service a~d Raymond A. Iones, his
<br />Relief was oromi~ed-~to"the City of Portsmouth in all ca~es, and it is
<br />believed by the Committee that m~ch was accomplished through their efforts made in Washington.
<br /> Especial commendation should be given to C. Co Hall, H. G. MeCready and
<br />F. U. Ross for their splendid assistance and services rendered-to the City Government and the
<br />City of Portsmouth.
<br /> Sufficient additional allotment of coal was promised Mr~ Hall by the
<br />Solid Fuel Commission to take care of the demand in March.~

<br />to make the appropriation of the funds for the Recreation Project.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the Council of the City o f
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the sum of $22,982.O0, heretofore
<br />appropriated in the Budge~ of 1945 as aforesaid, and the sum of
<br />~!9,500.O0., estimated to be the revenue from the City Park
