Bange!~ who spoke against the amendment raising the license tax on junk dealers to-$1,00!,00. ~¥~tion of Mr. Lawrence ~o rescind the amendment adooted at last meeting- Section 49 - Junk Dealers~ was lost and by the following vote: adopted and by {he Ayes: Hu~chins~ Lawrence ~ 2 Nays: Pox~ HoWard, Stur~evant, Wa_~ren~ Weiseman, Wilson - 6 On motion of Mr. Weiseman, the License Tax Ordinance, as amended, following vote: Ayes. Fox, Howard, Huuchins, Lawrence, Bturtevant, Weis%man, Wilson None The following ordinance was puesented and on motion of Mr. Weiseman, placed on its first reading: "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AN ORDINANCE Eh~ITLED ~AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING RENTAL CHARGES FOR THE PORTSMOUTH STADIUM, The following ordinance was presented and on motion of ~r. Warren placed on its first reading: ~AN ORDINANCE PRO.M_IBITING THE KEEPING 0 F CHICKENS OR OTHER DOMESTIC FOWL I~N THE CITY." The privilege of the floor was granted to a delegation from the Central Labor Union and Messrs~ ~mmua~, Garrett, Byers and Rossano sooke on a petition to the Council to allow the Central Labor Union to have a show in PortsmoutE this.summer, but said show to be entirely without gambling. Motion of Mro Hutchins to refer the ma~er ~o Attorney to present such ordinance or resolution as will be needed to Labor Union's request and report at nex~ meeting, was adopted~ On motion adjourned. the City Manager and City comply with the Oentral City Clerk.
