September 10, 1996 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, September 10, 1996, <br />there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard <br />Griffin Sr., James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas <br />Berm III. Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br /> 96-309 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street. at 5:00 <br />p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 1996, for the purpose of an Executive Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />96-310 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Business, Professional & Occupational License (BPOL) Tax <br />2. Brighton/South Portsmouth - Street Improvements <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to prows~ons of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real <br />property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as <br />permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts. pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Dr. James W.
