<br /> The Transportation Committee reported progress on the restoration of the
<br />bus routes and schedules and thai'the Portsmouth Transit Company is preparing plans now and
<br />submit them ~o the Committee.

<br />The following communicatio~ from the City Manager were read:

<br /> 1st "In furtherance of.your instructions to move the Information Booth,
<br />I advertised for bids and sold it to Virgil D. Proctor for the sum of $31.25."
<br />

<br /> 2nd - "In furtherance of a ~ecommendation by the Chief of Police, I am ac-
<br />cepting the resignation of Of~cer A. Evans, effective October 3, 19~5-~

<br /> 3rd ~0n the recommendation of the Chief of Police, I am re-instating
<br />F. E. Harrell in the Police Department, effective October 9th. Mr. Harrell has Just.~returned
<br />from fourteen months service in the United States Army."

<br />and I investigated the possibility of using two of the Carver Dormitories as.a colored hospital[
<br /> Mr. Van Leeuwen has received a set of plans from the Housing Au
<br />thority and is.making a study.as to the possibilities. It is his expectation to have a report
<br />ready for the next Council meeting, on October 26th."

<br />under ProJec~ VA ~-l~3 and they are requesting an extension of time of one hundred twenty one
<br />day~..
<br /> I would appreciate the adoption of the attached resolution."

<br />"WHEREAS, Trinkte snd Dobyns, General Contractors under Project
<br />VA ~-l~3, Fire Station, have been delayed in the completion of
<br />this project, and-
<br />WHEP~AS, the delay in construct!on was no f~ult of the con -
<br />tractor, ~no has made every effort to complete the building in
<br />time, and
<br />W-HEREAS, the said contractor is requesting an additional one
<br />hundred and twenty-one days to complete construction of the build-
<br />ing,
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, Befit Resolved by.the Counoil of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that Trinkle and Dobyns be granted a one-
<br />hundred and twenty-one day extension of time and be relieved of
<br />all costs caused by the delay, subject to approval of the Federal
<br />Works Agency."
