<br />County Board of Supervisors, who stated that the County had run a water line toga large part
<br />of Sunray area and would like to m~e agreement with the City to furnish water to this area.

<br />3. Letter from the City Manager, advising the Power Company
<br />of the Council's instructions to terminaSe the contract.
<br />4. A notice was served by Herbert Mercer, Sheriff of the City
<br />of Richmond, and return recorded on the baek of each instru-
<br />ment, which is now in thesafe deposit box of a local ba~k."

<br />5th · "I am in receipt of the foil~wing letter from A.L.Wright, Jr.:

<br />~Effective as of January l, 1946, I wish to resign from
<br />my position as a member of the Plumbing Examination
<br />Board for the City of Portsmouth, to which I was elected
<br />by the City Council in the year of 1950.
<br /> It is ~ith regret that I p&~ss i-~ the above resignation,
<br />but due to the expanstion of my work, I find that I am
<br />not alwaFs in town, or availablewhen the examinations
<br />come up. I would not be in position to devote the time
<br />and the careful consideration which the position carries
<br />with it, so I kindly ask that my resignation be accpeted.~"

<br />On motion, said resignation was accepted.

<br /> 6th - "In fmrtherance of our_plane to construct a power plant, Mr. Louis
<br />T. Klauder and I are to meet with. Henry Sullivan of the Federal Works Agency, on Thursday,
<br />January lOth smd discuss plans, engineering funds and other matters relative to the project
<br />known as VA P-30 - Light ~nd:Power Plant. It will be appreciated if you will confirm this ac-
<br />tion."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Sturtevant that the Msmager be authorized to negotiate loan
<br />from the Federal Works Agency for said purpose, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 7th - "I have appointed William F. Lawrence as-acting Director of Public
<br />Health-for the City of Portsmouth, effective January let, 1946, and in my opinion for these
<br />added duties and responsibilities, Mr. Lawrence should receive an additional $600[00 per year
<br />while in this capacity."
